Funeral details have been released after the passing of Alderman and County Board Supervisor Jim Brey.
Brey graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1985 and went on to attend UW-Stevens Point to earn his degree in political science.
According to his obituary, he then returned to Manitowoc and sought ways to apply his knowledge to improve the city.
He was first elected to the Manitowoc City Council in 1992 and has served the Fourth District since that time.
He would later be elected to the County Board of Supervisors in 1996 and served his district until his resignation to become the county treasurer.
Brey dedicated a lot of time working for Manitowoc, missing some family time and special events because of what he loved to do.
However, his obituary states that he was a consummate politician, seeking to hear all sides and striving to do what was best for everyone.
Brey’s funeral will be next Wednesday (August 20th) at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton at 6:30 p.m.
His visitation will start at 3:00 p.m. and continue up to the funeral. Manitowoc County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer tells Seehafernews.com that flags will also fly at half-staff next Wednesday.
Brey passed away after his vehicle crashed into a business near North 26th and Franklin Street on Tuesday night (August 12th).
