Two Sheboygan County organizations have been bolstered by funding from United Way.
The United Way of Sheboygan County has announced that the Sheboygan County LGBTQ+ Alliance and Nourish Farms are the first-ever recipients of the organization’s Innovation Grants.
The Innovation Grants are a new funding opportunity designed to support bold, creative, and community-driven solutions that address real change in Sheboygan County.
With funding from United Way, the Sheboygan County LGBTQ+ Alliance will launch a comprehensive initiative to address the urgent need for local, affirming, and accessible support, as data shows that only 40% of LGBTQ+ high school students in the county feel a sense of belonging.
As for Nourish Farms, this funding will enable their commercial kitchen and growing operations to become a highly collaborative and cost-effective mechanism for providing fresh and nutritious meals to Sheboygan County residents facing food insecurity.
When addressing the Innovation Grants, Kate Beer, President and CEO of United Way Sheboygan County, said, “We are incredibly proud to support innovative, local solutions that respond directly to the emerging and unaddressed needs in our community.”
She added, “Both Nourish Farms and the Sheboygan County LGBTQ+ Alliance are leading the way with thoughtful, inclusive, and impactful programming that will uplift our neighbors and strengthen the fabric of our community.”
These two organizations were selected by United Way after multiple rounds of review and interviews, which included applications from 29 local nonprofits.
