The City of Kiel is updating several of its laws.
The city council approved nine different ordinance amendments on Tuesday (August 12th), which included changes for signs, sexting, electric bikes, and weight limits on city streets, among others.
The language was changed to make political and campaign signs temporary.
They are not allowed to be put up 30 days prior to the commencement of an event or occasion and must be removed five days after the event.
The city’s new sexting ordinance bans the practice for minors since it “represents a concern for the health, safety, welfare, peace, and order of the citizens of the city.”
City Administrator Dave Funkhouser says the ordinance idea came from the school district’s school resource officer.
The ordinance language was also updated to allow electric bikes on all city-owned properties where regular bikes are permitted.
However, E-bikes are not allowed to exceed 15 miles per hour.
There are also new restrictions on some streets for heavy traffic vehicles over 10,000 pounds.
The council voted unanimously on all ordinance amendments.
