Roncalli’s football team is ready to make an impact this season.
In 2024, the team finished 3rd in the EWC conference and lost in a heartbreaking game against Shiocton 13-20 in the Level 1 playoffs.
Finishing 7-3, they are looking to improve to get farther in this upcoming season.
Coach Paul Kinsella, who has been with the Jets program for the past seven years, has a positive outlook for the upcoming campaign.
“Our goal is to win the conference and get in the playoffs,” he told SeehaferNews.com. “We think we’ve got a legitimate chance to go down to Madison and play for a state championship is the hope.”
Those goals are not outlandish either, as Coach Kinsella noted, “We’ve got a good, good chunk of juniors and seniors that are returning that hopefully pay off for us.”
The players on the team got to experience some on-field moments together before actually playing any regular-season games, as the team traveled to Winona State for a camp.
“We got to scrimmage against six or seven different schools,” Coach Kinsella recalled. “We were there for three days and so a couple of different schools every day. So that was a great experience for our kids.”
The Jets’ Dominic Thiele, Sawyer Van Drisse, and Kannon Kinsella also competed in the High School Quarterback Challenge during halftime at Saturday’s Packers preseason game, where they beat Iola-Scandinavia by one yard.
Roncalli’s season will begin on August 22nd, traveling to play Manitowoc Lutheran.
That game will be aired on 980 WCUB and CubRadio.com starting at 7:00 p.m.
