The man who died in a car crash Tuesday night has been confirmed by a source with the City of Manitowoc to be 4th District Alderman Jim Brey.
It was reported by the Manitowoc Police Department that Brey was driving in the area of South 26th and Franklin Streets when he collided with a building.
The details of what led up to the crash have not been released.
Brey was a prominent figure in local government, having served multiple terms on the Common Council, including a stretch as the Council President.
He was recently appointed to the position of County Treasurer, but previously served as a County Board Supervisor.
Brey also served on many city and county committees, while also serving as the President of the Lakeland Care Inc Board of Directors from 2010 to 2020.
