Wisconsin Public Service has named the winner of its annual “ambassadog” contest.
Pearl, a 7-year-old labradoodle from Schofield, has been named the face of the annual 811 program, which aims to remind everyone to call 811 three days before digging.
Pearl is already hard at work sharing her important safety message on digital billboards in northeast and north-central Wisconsin.
WPS customers and dog lovers alike cast more than 12,000 votes for the 10 finalists in this year’s safe digging ambassadog contest.
Pearl caught the eyes of people across northeast and north-central Wisconsin, receiving 60% of the pup-ular vote. Pearl’s favorite activity — no matter where she goes — is digging.
At home, she hones her skills in a designated backyard area that her owner refills after it has been dug out.
For digging safety tips and to ensure there are no infrastructure lines in the way, call 811 or go to DiggersHotline.com.
