A local Kiwanis Club is cutting ties with the parent organization.
The Two Rivers Kiwanis Club tells SeehaferNews.com that its members have decided to resign their charter with Kiwanis International, effective September 30th.
All of the Club’s longstanding charitable fundraising activities—including the annual July Fish Derby—will transition to Two Rivers Fish Derby Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established by the Two Rivers Kiwanis several years ago.
With the change, the Club will no longer operate under the Kiwanis International banner, and Two Rivers Fish Derby Inc. will assume full responsibility for planning, promotion, and execution of the July Fish Derby beginning in 2026.
The July Fish Derby will remain the same beloved community event, retaining its familiar format, prizes, and family-friendly atmosphere, and current Kiwanis members and community volunteers will continue to staff, sponsor, and support all activities.
Additionally, proceeds will still fund youth programs, scholarships, and local service initiatives in Two Rivers and surrounding communities.
Dave De Rosier, outgoing Two Rivers Kiwanis President, explained, “This handoff ensures our signature fundraiser thrives under a dedicated nonprofit structure. Two Rivers Fish Derby, Inc. will carry forward our mission of youth empowerment and community building for many years to come.”
