Authorities are still searching for a firearm in Fond du Lac County.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has shared that the pink backpack that went unaccounted for following a police chase that began in Winnebago County was found by a property owner near where the incident occurred.
The contents of the backpack included a scale used to weigh various narcotics, a handgun magazine, two additional extended handgun magazines, and loose bullets.
However, unlike the Sheriff’s Deputies suspected, the backpack did not contain the handgun to go along with the magazines and bullets recovered, and the firearm remains unaccounted for.
As reported on Thursday (August 7th), three individuals ranging from 18 to 28 years old were apprehended after a lengthy, multi-county pursuit, all of whom now face charges in both Fond du Lac and Winnebago Counties.
A search of the suspect vehicle uncovered a plethora of drugs, including crack cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, cocaine, THC, and additional handgun bullets.
Authorities later learned of the now-discovered pink backpack being dumped by one of the suspects after fleeing the vehicle.
While it was believed a handgun would be inside, authorities are still searching for the weapon.
