Sewer rates in Two Rivers could go up again.
According to city documents, a Sewer User Rate Study is being done to assist in developing a plan to fund needed improvements at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
However, the city is facing a $118,000 shortfall in its sewer revenue as it’s incurred more debt while making improvements to sanitary sewer laterals.
The city could raise the fixed fee from $1.75 to $2.00 per month per user. City Engineer Matt Heckenlaible told the council Monday (August 4th) that an ordinance could be modified so industrial businesses using larger water meters would have to pay more.
The city normally charges meters at a fixed rate for all. There could also be a volume charge increase.
The city council did not take any action, but could vote on the change during their August work session.
The city increased rates in 2022 and 2024.
