Sheboygan’s Harbor Centre is making a call for volunteers ahead of one of the busiest weekends of the year.
The 3rd Annual P1 Powerboat Sheboygan Midwest Challenge will take place tomorrow (August 9th) and Sunday (August 10th), and the Harbor Centre is requesting volunteers to help mitigate logistical challenges that this event will cause on the South Pier.
In order to keep South Pier Drive open, as well as access to local businesses in the area, volunteers are needed to perform traffic direction for both employees and customers.
Not only is this needed logistically and economically, but local businesses on the South Pier depend on the influx of revenue this event has brought in over the past two years.
This volunteering opportunity will also qualify students to earn their required community service hours.
While the Harbor Centre is not involved in the planning of the powerboat races, they are committed to the success of local businesses.
Anyone interested in aiding businesses on the South Pier can sign up for one or more of the 11 timeslots available by visiting the Sheboygan Harbor Centre Facebook page.
