City officials in Milwaukee are encouraging residents to call 9-1-1 if they hear gunfire.
The reminder follows a shots-fired incident early Thursday morning, which went unreported at the time.
Police later closed off a block to investigate a vehicle riddled with bullet holes.
However, that was not until more than six hours after the shots were fired.
Alderman Peter Burgelis said police only became aware of the situation after a resident came forward later that morning.
