Kyle Kordell Being Sworn In
Two Rivers’ new city manager is introducing himself to the public.
During a stop on WOMT’s Be My Guest program, Kyle Kordell told listeners about his time as a city administrator for Lake Zurich, Illinois, and how he wanted to move to a place that felt like where he grew up.
He’s a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a degree in Public Administration and Government Management.
“(I’m) very excited to be at this point now and officially starting,” he said. “We’re currently relocating, my wife and two daughters are joining me up here in about two weeks.”
Kordell’s initial impression of the Cool City is how unique it is, especially after where he lived before.
“The Chicago suburbs are crowded and a lot of them tend to kind of blend together,” he noted. “Two Rivers is not like that. It is a special place. Two Rivers has spirit, charm, cool character, and obviously true beauty. (As well as) unfettered shoreline. There’s a lot of wonderful things going on here.”
Kordell is originally from Michigan and saw what happens when industry leaves a small town.
He wants to focus on redevelopment in the city while making sure that people come first.
He’s also been very happy so far with working with the city council and the process he had to go through to get the job.
“It was a very thorough process,” he explained. “You guys left no stone unturned. And your interview and multi-day assessment process with the community involved was excellent and is to be commended.”
Former City Manager Greg Buckley will be working with Kordell until the end of next week to help him transition into the new role. Buckley’s last day will be on August 15th.
Today (August 7th) officially marks his 30th year in Two Rivers city government.
