A Manitowoc man will receive prison time in a drug-related death.
According to court records, 43-year-old Nathan Tollefson was sentenced to seven years of initial confinement followed by eight years of extended supervision.
Before being sentenced, prosecutors added a total restitution of over $11,000 as part of sentencing.
Tollefson is also required to maintain absolute sobriety, have full-time employment, and must provide a DNA sample.
Tollefson was arrested in September 2023 after an individual died from an overdose on Manitowoc’s south side at a recovery home.
According to a criminal complaint, the 58-year-old victim was with their mother, who took them on some errands on the day they died.
Police say the person ended up at Tollefson’s apartment and took some drugs from the residence.
The 43-year-old suspect claimed that he hadn’t seen the victim in years, until he was confronted with Facebook messages between the two on the day of the victim’s passing.
Tollefson said he never gave the drugs to the victim, but said he had them before in his apartment.
