People interested in learning more about aquatic invasive species have one more day to register for an event through the Wisconsin DNR.
Saturday (August 9th) is the DNR’s and UW-Madison Extension’s Aquatic Invasive Species Snapshot Day.
It’s a statewide effort to improve Wisconsin’s streams, lakes, and wetlands by monitoring designated sites for invasive plants and animals that may threaten the state’s wildlife and water ecosystems.
Volunteers will gather at local training sites hosted by community conservation partners and learn how to identify aquatic invasive species and follow search protocols.
The hands-on, community-driven approach to science allows volunteers to directly contribute to preserving Wisconsin’s water health.
In Manitowoc County, residents will meet at Lower Henry Schutte Park, while Sheboygan County residents can go to Maywood Environmental Park.
Today (August 8th) is the last day to register.
