The individuals involved in a car accident in Sheboygan County have been identified.
The accident took place last Monday (July 28th) on Lakeshore Drive near Willow Creek Lane just before 10:00 p.m.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office has said that 23-year-old Cody Goetsch of Sheboygan was hospitalized while 52-year-old Donald Hammond Jr. suffered minor injuries. Initial investigations state that Hammond Jr was traveling southbound on Lakeshore Drive when he attempted to make a turn.
During the turn, he struck Goetsch’s vehicle, which was traveling north.
The 23-year-old was severely injured, and the damage of the crash was so significant that Jaws of Life were needed to remove him from the vehicle prior to Flight for Life flying him to a hospital for treatment.
Hammond, the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation Board Chair, was arrested on the scene for OWI Causing Injury.
Authorities cited faults of both drivers as causes for the accident, noting Goetsch’s speed and both Hammond’s failure to yield and consumption of alcohol.
At this time, no court dates have been scheduled for Hammond, and Goetsch remains hospitalized.
