
Manitowoc Legion Post 88 19u had trouble keeping up with Middleton Senior Legion in a 13-0 loss on Friday in the AAA state baseball tournament at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point.
Middleton got on the board in the top of the third inning after Chase Rogers drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jackson Guerrero tripled, scoring two runs.
Middleton scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fourth inning. Seth Gibeault (Manitowoc Lincoln) induced Rogers to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, Charlie Tompach singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
Middleton scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Ray Feinberg singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Tompach tripled, scoring two runs.
Tompach earned the win for Middleton. The starter allowed four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Gibeault took the loss for Manitowoc Legion Post 88 19u. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking four.
Noah Blaser (Manitowoc Lincoln), Zachary Bradl (Manitowoc Lincoln), Landon Chalupny (Roncalli), and Kameron Braun (Manitowoc Lincoln) each collected one hit for Manitowoc.
Tompach and Feinberg each collected two hits for Middleton. Rogers, Tompach, and Guerrero each drove in two runs for Middleton. Middleton had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. August Faessler and Rogers led the team with two bases on balls each.
