An Eastern Wisconsin Senator who was heavily involved in the budget talks is highlighting one major aspect of the recently passed spending package.
Senator Devin LeMahieu is praising the inclusion of more than $1 billion in the 2025-2027 budget slotted to address roads and bridges across the state.
$322.5 million has been set aside for state highway rehabilitation, while $318.8 million is tabbed for major highway development.
Additionally, $185.2 million will be going to some freeway megaprojects in southeastern Wisconsin.
As for local projects, a total of $250 million was split between the Local Road Improvement Program and the Agricultural Road Improvement Program, with $30 million specifically dedicated to bridges and culverts in poor or severe condition.
Also, there is a 3% increase in the general transportation aids to local governments.
Sen. LeMahieu said in his statement, “The investments made in the 2025-27 budget will improve our state’s infrastructure and keep our economy moving.”
