Post 88 of Manitowoc defeated Stevens Point 5 to 3 in the consolation bracket of the AAA American Legion state baseball tournament at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point Wednesday afternoon.
The Sixers scored a run in the top of the first inning as pitcher Cade Voelker (Kiel) struggled with his control early, walking three batters.
Voelker was able to regain his control and kept the Sixers at bay as Manitowoc scored five unanswered runs to build a 5 to-1 lead.
Stevens Point scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to get to within two, but that’s as close as they would get as Post 88 remains alive.
Manitowoc improves to 20- 10, while Stevens Point finishes its season with a record of 9- 17.
Post 88 will face Eau Claire in another elimination game Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
