Manitowoc Police arrested a man over the weekend on his 5th OWI.
An officer was on patrol at 10:00 Friday night (July 25th) when he spotted a man behind the wheel, whom the officer knew had a revoked driver’s license.
A traffic stop was initiated near the intersection of Calumet and Grand Avenues, but the 40-year-old man kept driving.
He made a few turns before eventually pulling into the Arby’s parking lot on Harbortown Lane.
As the officer spoke with the man, he was said to be exhibiting several signs of impairment, and a “light odor of intoxicants” was emitting from the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed a six-pack of cold beers in the back seat, with four of them missing.
The man denied drinking any alcohol, but a field sobriety test indicated he had been drinking.
He was taken to a local hospital for an evidentiary blood draw before being booked into the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of OWI, his 5th offense, and Obstructing an Officer.
