A La Crosse man accused of fatally stabbing his roommate is now deemed mentally competent to face trial.
John Stumlin, charged with killing and hiding the body of Daniel Riordan, had been undergoing treatment at Mendota Mental Health Institute since his arrest last summer.
A judge ruled Monday that Stumlin can now participate in his legal defense.
His next court date is set for August 20.
