It will take another day before a competency hearing for a woman who claims to worship the “Saint of Death.”
48-year-old Blanca Perez-Hernandez returned to the Manitowoc County Court via Zoom for the hearing, but the doctor who would provide results from a competency exam was unavailable.
Judge Jerilyn Dietz scheduled the hearing for today (June 29th) at 9:00 a.m. so it could be heard as soon as possible.
Perez-Hernandez was arrested back in January after allegedly trying to take license plates off cars in a Manitowoc neighborhood.
When confronted by the car owners, she allegedly brandished a large kitchen knife and slashed one owner before trying to hurt another.
According to Manitowoc Police, Perez-Hernandez said that Santa Muerte, or the “Saint of Death,” had gifted her all the cars in the trailer park and the world, which is why she acted the way she did.
She was scheduled to have a competency hearing after her arrest, but her attorney argued she was mentally competent to move forward.
A new hearing has been set following what would have been a plea hearing at the beginning of the month.
