The muggy heat did not stop fans of the Green Bay Packers from coming out to watch the team practice Sunday morning.
As the team took to Ray Nitchke Field, thermometers read just shy of 90 degrees with 61% humidity, making for a sweaty day on the field and in the stands.
Second-year safety Evan Williams was not surprised by the fact that the stands stayed packed.
“It’s a special place, and if you haven’t realized that by now, I mean, you don’t know, ball,” he said with a smile. “I’ll say it again, we’ve got the best fans in the league. A community of people that are willing to come out and do anything to make sure that we win.”
The air wasn’t the only thing that was hot on Sunday.
The defense was flying all over the field.
The d-line was making things tough for the offense, and the defensive backs gave Jordan Love fits as he had several balls knocked down and threw an interception.
Williams is more than happy with how it is all coming together.
“I feel like we’ve got a good mesh point, like everybody’s understanding how everybody else’s job is going to affect theirs, and we’re able to play accordingly,” he revealed. “I mean, we’re a confident group right now.”
On the offensive side of the ball, Aaron Banks, who came to Green Bay through free agency, tells SeehaferNews.com that he has really enjoyed getting to know the corps group and making an impact at left guard.
“I think they’ve really, you know, welcomed me with open arms and, you know, any questions that I have from the guys, they answered,” the former 49er said. “Everybody’s pretty good. Everybody’s cool with each other. I think it’s a really good dynamic, especially in the O-line room.”
While he didn’t want to compare his first Packer training camp experience with his time in San Francisco, Banks did say he enjoys having the fans out watching every practice.
His fellow lineman, Sean Rhyan, is also quite happy with how everything has been going, specifically with the o-line.
“Our installs are going really well,” he said. “I kind of like how they’re installing it this year. I think they switched it up a little bit, and I think it was a good switch-up. I think it’s allowing us to play faster and pick up the plays that we need to.”
Running back Josh Jacobs says this training camp has been one of the best he has been a part of, mentally speaking, on both sides of the ball.
“This is one of the few camps not being anywhere as in being like a over overly amount of, you know, mental errors and things like that,” he revealed. “The defense man is, I don’t want to say it too early, but the defense looks really good.”
