A motorcyclist lost his life after crashing into another motorcycle in Manitowoc County.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig explains that sheriff’s deputies, EMS, and fire personnel were called last Friday (July 25th) just before 8:30 a.m. to County Highway G north of Taus Road in the Township of Franklin.
The initial investigation shows that 54-year-old Tobin Rueckl of De Pere and 30-year-old Cody Zahn of Brillion were driving their motorcycles northbound on Highway G when Rueckl lost control.
Both motorcyclists crashed, with Rueckl suffering fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Zahn suffered significant injuries and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
Neither operator was wearing a helmet, and alcohol and speed were determined to be factors in the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is doing a full reconstruction of the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
No further details are being released.
Hartwig also thanked the numerous emergency agencies from around the county who responded. He also extended his deepest sympathies to those impacted by the incident.
