The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating an officer-involved shooting in De Pere.
De Pere Police, the Ashwaubenon Department of Public Safety, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Perkofski Boat Launch on Saturday (July 26th) just before 1:00 p.m. for a person armed with a rifle.
Law enforcement tried to negotiate with the person, but the suspect then produced the rifle.
Officers shot the subject multiple times and then tried to render aid.
However, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement officers were wearing body cameras, and those involved have been placed on administrative leave.
The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is leading the investigation along with other agencies in the Wisconsin DOJ.
DCI will review the evidence and determine the facts of the incident and turn over the investigation reports to the Brown County District Attorney’s Office when the investigation concludes.
