A Wisconsin Senator is thanking Governor Tony Evers for his years of service after he announced he would not be seeking reelection next year.
In a video on X, Gov. Evers said he has enjoyed visiting people all over the state over the past six years as Governor, but the Plymouth native said he wants to spend more time being a husband, a dad, and a grandpa.
Senator Tammy Baldwin responded to the announcement by saying, “Wisconsin is lucky to have had Tony Evers leading our state. He has always put Wisconsin – and Wisconsin’s children – first, and we will continue to see those benefits for generations to come.”
She specifically pointed to his commitment to education, how he handled the COVID pandemic, and helped reduce unemployment to a record low in Wisconsin.
She closed, saying, “I am grateful to call Tony a friend…Thank you for all you have done for Wisconsin, Tony.”
Gov. Evers also said in his video, “I’m so humbled to be your governor. This is the best job I ever had.”
