The Manitowoc Police Department’s way to honor its past K9s is now on display.
The Police K9 statue that’s been worked on for the last two years was installed yesterday (July 24th) at the Manitowoc Public Safety Building at 10th and Jay Streets.
Police Administrative Assistant Amber Nowortazky tells SeehaferNews.com that a K9 Memorial Committee was created in 2023 after a local family contacted MPD asking to help financially support the K9 Memorial.
The bronze statue named “Liberty” now sits on a granite pedestal and was created by Colorado Artist Sutton Betti.
The statue honors Manitowoc Police’s courageous K9s that have devoted their lives to serving the City of Manitowoc, creating a lasting tribute to their loyalty and service.
The initiative was also spearheaded by former Manitowoc Assistant Police Chief Jason Frieboth.
