It’s the second year for an Evergleams on Eighth celebration of Christmas in July.
The Mid Mod Manitowoc Summer Vintage weekend gets underway today (July 25th) and Saturday (July 26th) at the Inn on Maritime Bay for those interested in anything vintage, midcentury, or just want to enjoy the Evergleam in July.
Manitowoc Kitchmas Member Barb Bundy-Jost stated on the WCUB Breakfast Club that the idea came from a couple who visited Manitowoc and took a tour of Evergleams on Eighth, but didn’t like the cold weather.
Now, the Evergleams group is offering a chance to celebrate things created in the 1950s and ’60s.
Bundy-Jost says that last year’s successful vendor market is open to the public this year.
“We have vendors who do Mid Mod, focus on Christmas in particular,” she explained. “And we are filling the whole, where the restaurant used to be at the Inn on Maritime Bay, that’s booked with all kinds of vendors. And then we moved into one of the rooms of the ballroom and there are four vendors in there.”
The market takes took place today from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will get underway tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Friday events also include a classic car show, food trucks, and the Aluminum Tree Exhibition.
“Aluminum Specialty had all those fun trees in a variety of colors, so we’re going to put them up at the Inn on Maritime Bay,” she noted. “The ballroom is going to be festooned with all types of trees. We welcome people to put their trees up and show off what they have.”
Other Saturday events include educational seminars from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at a Retro Cocktail Party with a luau theme from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
“We’ll have people who are going around with o’dourves that are of the area,” she described. “We’ve got some medallion wear trays to put everything on. And we’ll infuse the party with people walking around wearing vintage togs that we’ll describe. And many will be available for sales.”
Tickets for the luau are $20 a person.
