The Green Bay Packers’ season officially began yesterday with day one of training camp.
Fans lined the roadway between Lambeau Field and the Don Hudson Center to watch the annual tradition of players riding the bikes alongside children, and then filled the stands at Ray Nitschke Field to watch the 2025 team for the first time.
One of the players with the most eyes on him was the Packers’ first overall pick, wide receiver Matthew Golden, who told SeehaferNews.com that he loved every second.
“I feel good,” he said. “Excited to be out here, get back going with the team and just get out here and get to play football again.”
Golden admitted he hasn’t had a whole lot of time to explore the Green Bay area, but did set some time aside for fellow rookie and Texas teammate, Defensive End, Barryn Sorrell.
“Actually, me and Barryn started fishing,” #22 revealed. “I taught my boy how to fish, but that’s really about the only thing I’ve been doing while I’ve been up here. Whenever I do get some free time, I try to find something else to do.”
The day before the team hit the field, the Packers unveiled their newly remodeled locker room, which now fits everyone on the team.
The prior configuration had the “main” crew in a central room, and several other players with lockers in off-shooting hallways.
Now, the state-of-the-art locker room features padded seats, multiple storage containers, and video screens above the lockers with the players’ picture, name, number, hometown, and college team.
Golden was definitely impressed.
“Yeah, it’s sick man,” he said with a smile. “It kind of remind me of Texas a little bit.”
Sean Rhyan, who was filling in at Center during practice as Elgton Jenkins nurses a back injury, agreed in is own uniquely Sean Rhyan way.
“Unreal. Unreal. I was just talking about the showers. The showers might be the highlight of it,” he said with a chuckle.

Packer’s Offensive Line
Right Tackle Zach Tom, who recently signed a four-year contract extension reportedly worth $88 million, including a record-setting $30.2 million signing bonus, was also impressed, but reiterated what Coach Matt LaFleur told the team.
“It’s nice, but like Matt told us yesterday, you know, locker room doesn’t get you wins. You still got to go out there and do it.”
The Packers will be back on the field this morning at 10:30 a.m., as well as Friday, Sunday, and next Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, before the ever-popular Family Night Practice on Lambeau Field on August 2nd.
