The Manitowoc Public School District is praising students for their work completing a major construction project.
MPSD states that, after three years of dedication and over 1,360 volunteer hours, a new 1,000-foot boardwalk along Wild Pond Lane at the Rahr Memorial School Forest has been fully constructed.
Materials for the project were funded through a Wisconsin DNR Recreational Trails Grant; however, according to Superintendent Lee Thennes, it was the people behind the project who brought it to life.
Teacher Kyle Wagner led Lincoln High School students in constructing the boardwalk, which included building the segments in the classroom and installing them on-site during workdays at the Rahr Forest.
MPSD also extends its deepest gratitude to all students, staff members, and community volunteers who contributed time and talent to the project.
The public is welcome to walk on the new Wild Pond Lane Boardwalk, which provides safe and scenic access to a unique part of the Rahr Memorial School Forest.
