Manitowoc’s 19u American Legion baseball team had a great start to their playoff campaign.
The 19u team advanced in regional play yesterday (July 22nd) after taking down Kaukauna 5-0 behind a solid outing on the mound from Brayden Steinbecker.
Steinbecker would pitch all 7 innings of the game, surrendering no runs and 4 hits while striking out 6 batters.
Manitowoc would get out to an early lead in the top of the 1st inning thanks to an RBI from Zachary Bradl before an error plated two more runs, making the score 3-0.
An additional run was then added in both the 4th and 5th innings bringing the score to 5-0 where it would end in favor of Manitowoc.
Aaron Stephany led the team in hits, collecting 2, while Bradl and Gabe Eichmann had one RBI apiece.
This playoff victory brings the 19u squad’s record to 16-8.
They will continue regional play this afternoon (July 23rd), taking on the winner of the regional matchup between Kimberly and Appleton.
