A team made up of local high school senior basketball players participated in the Prep Hoops National Open Championship in Indianapolis Indiana over the weekend and came home with a championship.
Manitowoc United 17 u AAU basketball went 4 and 0 in the tournament, defeating Powerhouse Minnesota 17 u 52 to 49 in the National Gold 17 u title game on Sunday.
Local hoopsters on the team were Donovan Cowley, Dominik Frozena and Dominic Thiele of Roncalli, Micah Kubsch and Brett Danielson of Manitowoc Lincoln, Wesley Hecker and Issac Wagner of Manitowoc Lutheran, Ben Prochnow of Reedsville and Carmine Moctezuma of Kohler.
Head Coach Ryan Kubsch was assisted by Joel and Shanna Kubsch and many local coaches.
The tournament was played in conjunction with WNBA All-Star Weekend.
