A Fond du Lac County car crash has left one dead and hospitalized another.
The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received numerous 911 calls yesterday (June 22nd) just before 12:30 p.m. reporting a head-on collision on Highway 151 in the Town of Oakfield.
Arriving Deputies and emergency crews located the victims and immediately rendered aid to those involved.
Initial investigations suggest that an 81-year-old Sun Prairie woman was traveling southbound on 151 when it is believed she suffered some kind of medical emergency.
As a result, her vehicle crossed over the grass median and collided, head-on, with a northbound vehicle driven by a 59-year-old Waupun man.
Life-saving efforts were made for the 81-year-old; however, she would be pronounced dead on the scene.
The Waupun man sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
During the incident, a third vehicle was sideswiped, but no one was injured.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in their response to the crash by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Dane County Sheriff’s Office, Oakfield Fire Department, Oakfield EMS, and LifeStar Ambulance.
