After nearly five decades, a beloved supper club in Sheboygan will be changing hands.
Sandra Rupp, owner of Rupp’s Downtown, has announced that the business will be changing ownership in early August after being a part of the Rupp family for 46 years.
Rupp’s will be taken over by Deidre and Sam Melei, who will be carrying forward the Rupp’s tradition while adding some tasteful updates along the way.
Deidre currently serves as the CEO of the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce, while Sam is a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Sheboygan and Village of Sheboygan.
When discussing the departure of her family from the restaurant that has become a staple in the Sheboygan community, Rupp said, “While you may notice some changes over time, you can be assured that the heart of Rupp’s – the welcoming spirit, the warm service, and the delicious flavors will remain true to its roots.”
She continued to say that she and the family are incredibly proud of the legacy that is Rupp’s Downtown is, “a place where generations have gathered to share meals, laughter, and special moments.”
Currently, there are no plans from the Melei’s to close Rupp’s extensively during the transition, and visitors can expect more of what has made the restaurant into a premier spot in Sheboygan for decades.
