The United Way of Manitowoc is looking to help the food insecure in our community.
During a recent episode of Talk United on WOMT, Ash Bender, the Executive Director of the local United Way branch, explained that for those who are financially struggling, finding the help they need can be a big issue.
“We understand that there is a lot of great health and wellbeing program in our community, and connections is, a lot of times, the biggest problem,” Bender revealed.
So, Bender and her team have been looking at ways to make accessibility to these organizations and programs easier.
“There’s a Hunger Coalition that has been around for a number of years, but in the past six months we have really dug in deeper with this group,” she noted. “They are working together with us to improve how they are going to work together as non-profits that are focused on food security.”
