The City of Sheboygan has been making progress in removing lead pipes.
In the monthly report from the City’s Board of Water Commissioners that will be discussed today (July 21st) at their monthly meeting, an update was given on lead service line (LSL) replacement projects as of June. In the month of June, Sheboygan Water Utility replaced 26 lead lines.
At this time, the utility company has said they’ve replaced 12% of their target goal of 250 lines to be replaced in the City for 2025.
Major line replacement projects were recently completed on North 6th Street, while work remains underway with the North 25th Street and North 7th Street replacements.
Currently, Sheboygan has 5,497 lead service lines left to replace, but that number is expected to decrease as the summer continues, while additional projects are started or completed.
