Manitowoc County is on track for collecting this year’s sales tax revenue.
County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer said on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that the county budgeted $7.5 million in expected sales tax revenue.
Ziegelbauer says the numbers are on track for the beginning of the year, but there is a delay.
“We’re only getting April, May, and March funds in our office now,” he noted. “It’s got about a 60-day delay.”
However, Ziegelbauer says for now, the county has the correct number for sales tax revenue.
He hopes revenue will grow in the future.
An ordinance to implement a sales tax in Manitowoc County was passed a year ago, raising some concerns among county board members.
Ziegelbauer says he wasn’t happy at the time but called it essential for the county’s long-term financial health, which will enable the county to deliver quality services to its citizens.
