There has been a positive response to camping opportunities at a Manitowoc County Park.
Earlier this year, Manitowoc County announced that campsites have been created at Walla Hi Park east of Kiel, and Manitowoc County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that the park has been very popular.
“We’re surprised about that because we just started the camping in May this year,” he noted. “But people are spreading the word.”
Ziegelbauer credits County Parks Director Tim Ryan with cleaning up the park and initiating the camping program.
The county executive also says he’s excited that people are so enthusiastic about the parks because they are well-maintained and well-taken care of.
He recommends picking up a county map to get more information.
“We have them at the clerk’s office in the courthouse,” he explained. “Or, if you want to give me a call then I’ll send one to you.”
The Walli Hi campgrounds will be open until October 31st and cost $28 a night.
The camping area has been redeveloped with new trees and offers available shelter, bathrooms, and showers.
