A recall has been issued for certain chicken sausage products nationwide.
The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service has announced that 11-ounce packages of Kayem Food-branded Sweet Apple chicken sausage have been recalled due to a plastic contamination.
Kayem Foods has said the recall accounts for nearly 25,000 pounds of the chicken sausage after three customer complaints were filed, noting the presence of white plastic inside.
The products subject to the recall will bear the use- or freeze-by date of October 1st, 2025, with an establishment number of P-7839.
The FSIS has further warned that these products were shipped to retail locations across the country, including Wisconsin.
At this time, no sicknesses or injuries have been reported in regard to the recall; however, anyone with the Kayem Food chicken sausage in their possession is urged not to eat them but rather throw them out or return them to the place of purchase.
Product labels for the affected chicken sausage packages can be found online by visiting fsis.usda.gov.
