Semi-pro sand sculptors are starting on their pieces at Red Arrow Beach in Manitowoc today (July 18th).
They are looking to get ahead of the 3rd Annual Wisconsin Sand Sculpting Festival, taking place tomorrow (July 19th) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The semiprofessionals will continue to work on their masterpieces throughout the day, while the amateurs will work all tomorrow to sculpt what they want visitors to see.
The amateur winners will be crowned tomorrow, while the semi-pros will be given awards on Sunday.
The sand sculpting festival also includes a DJ, SS Badger Bingo, food trucks, and vendors.
Attendees can also pick up a token at the Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary booth so they can vote for the People’s Choice for the best sculpture.
For the first time, the event is open to the public at no cost.
However, Visit Manitowoc tells residents that no coolers are allowed, don’t park in private business parking lots, and that dogs will not be allowed in a fenced-off sculpting area.
