Habitat for Humanity Lakeside is looking to put creativity into action at an upcoming fundraiser.
Sheboygan’s Habitat for Humanity location will be hosting the Repurposed for a Reason Art Exhibition and Sale on August 6th at 5:00 p.m., bringing the group together with local youth artists who are part of The Sheboygan Collective.
The event will feature works made entirely from items purchased at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore that have been repurposed into original art pieces.
The artists with The Sheboygan Collective made two trips through the ReStore to find items to transform into works to be presented at the event.
These youth artists are taught by Whitney Morales, The Sheboygan Collective’s founder, who said, “Working with repurposed materials creates a powerful intersection of sustainability and accessible art for all.”
Admission to the art exhibition will be free, and all artwork on display will be up for sale during and after the event.
During the event, a string quartet will be on hand to perform while the entire ReStore will have a 50% discount on all items.
Proceeds from the sale will go directly toward Habitat for Humanity’s many causes, including home building and repair, the newly launched Aging in Place program, and other initiatives that aid Sheboygan County.
