Manitowoc Public Utilities is reminding residents about the Sprinkler Forgiveness Program.
The program will remain in effect until October and caps customers’ sewer usage charges during the winter season.
Residents will continue to pay for water used, including when a sprinkler is running.
MPU states that the reason for the cap is to accurately charge customers for their sewer usage, even when water usage is inflated during summer irrigation.
Customers can get the most out of their irrigation system by avoiding use during the middle of the day, inspecting it to ensure it’s working properly, and checking to see if they’re overwatering their lawn.
