A housing project in the City of Sheboygan will be moving forward with a new design plan.
At this week’s City Plan Commission meeting, an Amended Site Improvement Plan (SIP) for the Luedke Apartments project was approved.
The new design plan for the apartments, which are to be located at the former Jakum Hall site, will now consist of two buildings, totaling 32 individual units.
Building one will now house 12 one-bedroom and 8 two-bedroom units, while building two will be made up of 4 one-bedroom and 8 two-bedroom units.
Previously, the plan was to have two buildings consisting of 11 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
However, Jake Buswell of Luedke Apartments LLC, the project builders, feels this new plan proposal will not only maximize the land use at the former Jakum Hall site but also better address the housing needs of the Sheboygan community.
The hope is that this development will be seen as an ideal option for the workforce, seniors, and small family housing.
Following a yes vote from the Plan Commission this week, the Luedke Apartments SIP will now go in front of the Sheboygan Common Council for full approval at a future meeting.
