Troopers with the Wisconsin State Patrol will be hitching a ride with semi-truck drivers this week.
WSP has announced that its annual Trooper in a Truck campaign is underway across the state.
This yearly initiative is in partnership with the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association and will have Troopers traveling with truck drivers for a higher vantage point to better view traffic violations.
These will include speeding, seat belt violations, and reckless or distracted driving. When a traffic violation is spotted while traveling in either a truck or a bus, the trooper will radio nearby patrol cars, who will then take action.
Additionally, in a separate announcement, WSP has stated that they will be conducting air patrols on State Highway 26 in Fond du Lac County today (July 16th) to further enhance public safety.
While unrelated, both plans aim to make roads in Wisconsin safer for all.
