It was a good day on the mound for a Manitowoc American Legion baseball pitcher.
Brayden Steinbecker of Manitowoc Lincoln High School went the distance in Post 88’s 19u 4-1 win over Ashwaubenon last night on Bruce Steinbecker Field.
He allowed three hits while striking out 15 batters to secure the win.
At the plate, Post 88 took advantage of five errors by the A’s, while Sawyer Van Drisse drove in a run.
The 19u squad is now 15-7 and will be back in action Friday as they take on Seymour.
It wasn’t quite as good of a day for the 16u team, as they fell to De Pere 13-3 on the road.
It was a close matchup until the 5th inning, when the home team plated 9 runs to end the game early.
Brayden Mrotek led the way at the plate, notching two runs on as many hits, while Cole Crees accounted for the final run.
Ethan Emmett pitched the first four innings, keeping the game close, while Benjamin Holper and Andrew Holper split time in the fifth.
Benjamin suffered the loss.
Post 88’s 16u team will try to bounce back tomorrow as they travel to Bay Port.
