The search for a teenage boy at Sheboygan’s Jaycee Quarry Park will get back underway today (July 16th).
The Sheboygan Fire Department received a report regarding a drowning victim yesterday (July 15th) just after 2:00 p.m.
The caller explained that a 13-year-old boy had last been seen in the water at Quarry Park, and a water rescue team was immediately dispatched.
Within minutes of arrival, rescue swimmers and divers were deployed to search both above and below the water’s surface.
After approximately 90 minutes of continuous rescue efforts, emergency response crews transitioned into recovery operations rather than rescue.
Recovery operations would continue throughout the evening until the search was halted for diver safety and limited visibility.
Sheboygan Fire Chief Eric Montellano tells SeehaferNews.com that recovery efforts will get back underway today at 7:30 a.m.
At this time, the teenage boy’s identity is not being released, and additional information will be made available once operations resume this morning.
Sheboygan PD has stated that Jaycee Quarry Park will be closed today for all activities while the search continues, and the public is asked to avoid the area until further notice.
Those assisting the Sheboygan Fire Department in the recovery effort include the Sheboygan County Dive Team, Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheboygan Police Department, Sheboygan Public Works, Wisconsin DNR, a K-9 search unit, and the Milwaukee Fire Department.
