An area state representative is concerned about the US System increasing tuition.
According to 3rd District Representative Ron Tusler, the Board of Regents met to approve a 4% undergraduate tuition increase, with an additional 1% option that every campus except UW-Green Bay plans to adopt.
Tusler says it’s disappointing to hear after the 2025-2027 state budget allowed for a $256 million increase in aid for the university system.
The Harrison Republican continues saying, “When you take in $256 million more than your last budget and force students to pay 5% more, I don’t see how that’s benefiting anyone other than the universities themselves.”
He concludes by saying that public universities owe it to taxpayers to make everything as efficient as possible.
