Emplify Health by Bellin is teaming up with the Green Bay Police Department and Green Bay Area Public School District to teach the youth and the public about a growing online scam.
Experts will be at the Bellin Psychiatric Center, located at 301 East Saint Joseph Street in Green Bay, tomorrow (July 17th) to talk about sextortion.
This is an ever-growing scam where con artists will pose as someone online and make friends with their target.
Then, after receiving sexual images or messages, they threaten to share the pictures and messages with the victim’s friends, family, and co-workers unless they pay the scammer.
In some cases, victims have resorted to suicide to escape the situation.
The program will begin in the Inpatient Hospital Cafeteria at 10:00 a.m. and will provide resources for youth, parents, and guardians to better protect against online scammers and predators.
