A Green Bay woman has been convicted after leaving her bedridden mother in putrid conditions.
40-year-old Elizabeth A. Drake made her final pre-trial appearance in Brown County court on Monday (July 14th) as she faced felony counts of Intentionally Subjecting an Individual at Risk to Abuse, Causing Bodily Harm, and Improper Animal Shelter Sanitation.
However, at Monday’s hearing, Drake was found guilty do to a no contest plea to both charges, avoiding the jury trial she was previously scheduled to face.
Following her conviction, Drake was ordered to spend just under two years in prison, followed by three years on extended supervision.
The 40-year-old was arrested in December of 2023 after a delivery driver heard calls from inside Drake’s home on Vroman Street.
Officers arrived at the home and noted a strong smell described as a mix of “animal, garbage, urine, and feces.”
Those calls heard by the delivery driver were those of Drake’s mother, who was found by authorities in a bed covered in bugs and caked in excrement.
The victim told officers that her daughter was caring for her, but she hadn’t moved her from the bed in at least a year.
After her arrest, the home was later condemned.
