The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has a new mobile command center.
The new mobile command center is replacing a 36-year-old vehicle that has served the department well over the years, but was previously owned by the sheriff’s office before the internet and cell phones were even in use.
The command vehicle will be used to respond to SWAT/tactical situations, water rescues, missing person searches, natural disasters, and chemical spills, among other conditions.
The new command vehicle will also serve as a secondary dispatch center and communications center in the event that the central communications center needs to be shut down or evacuated.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office also shared a video of the inside of the command vehicle, which includes a front conference room, aluminum cabinetry, magnetic surface dry-erase whiteboards, and kitchen appliances for staff.
The video and more information about the vehicle can be found on the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
