An apartment fire in Milwaukee on Monday morning has claimed the life of a young girl and left her mother in critical condition.
According to Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski, both victims were found unconscious during the rescue.
The blaze forced a dozen tenants from their homes.
Chief Lipski noted the building lacked a sprinkler system, which could have helped contain the fire.
Current state regulations don’t require such systems in older buildings.
